Institutional Accreditation

Bay de Noc Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), an independent corporation and one of two commission members of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), which is one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. The Higher Learning Commission accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region.

Bay de Noc Community College was accredited in 1976 and was admitted to HLC’s Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) model for accreditation on February 13, 2004.   AQIP is structured around quality improvement principles and processes and involves a structured set of goal-setting, networking, and accountability activities. AQIP infuses the principles and benefits of continuous improvement into the culture of colleges and universities.

Bay de Noc Community College Systems Portfolio
The College’s 2011 Systems Portfolio is a document that explores key operational processes and results and critically reflects on the institution’s strengths, distinctions, successes, as well as its challenges and competition.  The College updates the Systems Portfolio once every four years, in keeping the AQIP accreditation process.

Systems Appraisal Feedback Report
The Systems Appraisal Feedback Report is written by a team of external Peer Reviewers representing the Higher Learning Commission who provide extensive feedback about Bay de Noc Community College’s strengths and opportunities for improvement. Based on this feedback, the leadership at the College identifies actions that will best advance the institution.

Current Action Projects
The College’s Action Projects focus on vital processes that need improvement, based in part on analysis of data gathered, feedback from the Higher Learning Commission, and other pertinent information.  Typically, Action Projects last from 1-3 years until improvements are made, and until the improvements are integrated into daily College operations.  Current Action Projects receive on-going feedback and input from Peer Reviewers representing the Higher Learning Commission.
