Karl Linderoth is a CNSS and GIS Instructor at Bay de Noc Community College in Escanaba. Linderoth previously managed his own IT Company and served as the Director of IT Services for Six County Employment Alliance\Michigan Works. He holds a Masters of Science in Career Tech Ed and Information Systems from Ferris State University where he specialized in server middleware scripting and open source applications and operating systems. Linderoth was named an Outstanding Educator at Bay College in 2005-2006, and again in 2010-2011. Linderoth holds CompTIA Network+ and Convergence+ certifications, Microsoft Windows Server Administration (Microsoft Certified Professional), and multiple MTA certifications including Windows Mobility and Devices (support of cloud computing and mobile clients). During the summer of 2015 Linderoth attended ESRI ArcGIS training in Nashville, TN to learn the new ArcGIS Pro interface and Python Scripting (ESRI) because GIS is heading quickly toward mobile apps and virtual reality!
He recently completed a post graduate certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Geospatial Studies from George Mason University in Virginia. Though certifications are a good standard of understanding a given skillset, Linderoth believes that there is no better teacher than the "on the job" training. Linderoth spent several months n the summer of 2014 working full time as a GIS Technician for CUPPAD. Summer 2016 Linderoth will be assisting Northwoods Math and Science Center to train 125 Upper Peninsula high school math and science teachers to learn GIS skills.
