"The unexamined life is not worth living" (The Greek philosopher Socrates, 5th c. BC)

Philosophy is literally “the love of wisdom.”  The formal study of philosophy includes questions about the nature of reality, the nature of truth, the essence of beauty, the study of ethics, logical thinking, and politics.  Philosophy courses at Bay College encompass the history of thought and religious ideas from early Greek, Middle Eastern, and South Asian societies to current philosophical trends of the modern period.  Historically based, they offer students an opportunity to cultivate analytical, critical, creative, and interpretative thinking and writing skills.
