The series completed its 20th year this past summer. The series features three concerts with the Bay String Orchestra of Paul Lundin. Each concert features a certain type of music and string instruments.
Strings on the Bay 2014 Concert Series
The series begins Tuesday, June 24th with a “Violin Duel.” Violinist Tracy Dunlop “battles” violinist and Strings on the Bay’s music director Paul Lundin in a program of violin duos that span three centuries. The second concert on Tuesday, July 15th is a return engagement for Eastern Michigan University’s faculty pianist Garik Pedersen and cellist Diane Winder, joining Lundin for “Halloween in July.” A spooky sounding trio based on Irish folk songs, the “Devil’s Trill Sonata” and the “Ghost Trio” comprise a delightfully scary evening. The summer concert series concludes Tuesday, August 12th featuring a string quartet from the Ann Arbor area playing a program entitled “The Killer B’s.” Works by the three most beloved composers of all time are featured – Bach, Beethoven and Brahms!
