This summer, area students will have an opportunity to learn techniques in drawing covering concepts of Perspective, shading, composition, and properly translating size and shape. Students will cover the use of a grid and also practice drawing from still life compositions at Bay College West. Art and Design student, Jeff Gurchinoff, will instruct a 10-hour four day Art camp highlighting how art influences many aspects of our lives. “I firmly believe a solid understanding of art and the ability to comprehend facts within our environment are critical in any career path. Art is not just two dimensional or the ability to create, it really is much more than that” explains Gurchinoff. A Bay West representative states, “We are excited to be able to offer this opportunity, for the first time, to our young, burgeoning artists. They will get great art instruction, along with a taste of the college atmosphere.”
The Art Camp is open to students age 12 to 16 and will run July 18 – 21, 9:00am to 11:30am. The registration fee is $45.00, which includes all art supplies. On the final day of camp, student artwork will be displayed and an art reception will be held from 11:30am to 1:00pm. We encourage the community to come see what the young artists produce, as well as taking in Jeff’s artwork, which is on display until July 27.
