Bay College Announces Quarterly TORCH Award Winner

Patrick Ogle TORCH winner
Congratulations to Patrick Ogle, Bay College's quarterly June – August 2017 TORCH Award winner. Pat is Custodian at the Escanaba Campus, and is recognized for his work at Bay College as noted in the following:
Pat was nominated for this award because of his responsiveness to others. One example of how Pat demonstrates this quality is his interactions with the students. His nominator stated, “As I was walking down the hall one day, I noticed a group of nursing students studying together in the small alcove outside of the nursing classrooms A few minutes later, I witnessed Pat come out of his office with handfuls of Hershey chocolates to offer up to them. They gave Pat a small cheer, had big smiles on their face, and were laughing and joking with Pat. In that one small gesture of kindness, Pat made their days just a little bit better. I’ve witnessed him do this same thing to other people around campus, and regularly overhear him talking to his work study student employees to see how they are doing, not only as employees, but as people. Pat is a kind individual who is quick to smile and good at making those he encounters do the same thing.”

The purpose of the TORCH Award is to give personal recognition to those employees on Bay College’s campuses dedicated to the mission of the College because of their attitude, commitment, and dedication toward the higher education learning environment. TORCH stands for: Team Player; Outstanding Performance; Responsive to Others; Conscientious to Mission of Bay; Helpful to All. For one of these areas, or for one specific event or circumstance, please summarize how your nominee has shown the identified characteristic(s) while performing their job and, if applicable, how did their actions/attitude impact your job area. This award is given to one employee on a quarterly basis. Nominations will be accepted from employees, students and the community.
