Bay College’s Math Science Division presents a special colloquia on Careers in Public Health. Dr. Gordon Reeve will give a free presentation at 4PM on Thursday November 19 room 111 of the Math Science Building. The field of public health, which focuses on improving health and preventing disease, offers numerous and diverse career opportunities for students majoring in health professions and other sciences. The talk will include an overview of public health activities at the local-, national-, and global-level; a review of three data-driven projects with tangible policy implications; and a practical guide for choosing a career path in public health.
Dr. Reeve has spent a 42-year career as an Epidemiologist with a variety of challenging assignments which included: Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); Corporate Epidemiologist at Ford Motor Company; Epidemiology Bureau Chief at the City of Houston Health Department; State Epidemiologist for the Indiana State Health Department; Epidemiology Branch Chief at the Arkansas Health Department and a staff Epidemiologist at the University of Texas Cancer Center.
