Bay College West Campus is excited to introduce a free Speaker Series titled, “Community Voices.”  The series consists of a variety of topics and local speakers.  “Community Voices” will take place on the second Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in Fornetti Hall.  Community members will present on a specific topic with questions and answers to follow.

“The Wonderful World of Beekeeping”, presented by Bernie Driggs, a local beekeeper, mentor and educator will kick off the series. Driggs and his wife Sharon have been beekeeping since the 1970’s and have kept bees in two states, four counties, and six locations.

“My enthusiasm for Beekeeping and my desire to see others enjoy this fascinating hobby is the reason I started teaching Beekeeping 101 in our home several years ago,” stated Driggs.  He and his wife also offer free wax workshops in their home demonstrating candle making and other beeswax products.  “We will take you on a trip of beekeeping from the beginning to modern times”.

Driggs is a member of the local beekeeping group called, “Northwoods Beekeepers” who meet monthly on Bay West Campus.  For more information on “Community Voices,” visit the Bay College West Campus Facebook page or contact Tina Jensen directly at (906)302.3006 or by email at
