Celebrating Student Success

Come and enjoy “A Celebration of Student Learning” at Bay College on Thursday, April 13, 2017 where there are several activities focused on student learning taking place. 

First, Bay College will have an exhibition “Celebrating Student Success” by featuring the work of various student artists. The Opening Reception is Thursday, April 13th at 2:00 PM. This will be an opportunity to meet the artists and engage in conversation about their work. Refreshments will be served.

The exhibition represents a culmination of a semester of work for these students. The exhibit will include photography, ceramics, sculpture, installation and fiber arts. They are learning to create unified two and three-dimensional compositions that effectively communicate their ideas and expertise. The exhibited works originated from the following art classes –Digital Photography 1 & 2, Painting 1 & 2, Intro to Art and Design and Sculpture taught by Kristine Granger and Ceramics 1, 2 & 3 taught by Al Hansen. This is a juried art exhibition in which one artwork per course will be selected to be part of Bay’s Permanent Art Collection. The Celebration of Student Success exhibition can be viewed from April 13-June 15, 2017 and the Opening Reception is Thursday April 13, 2017 at 2pm.

Then, the “Student Poster Symposium” will take place from 4-6pm in the Bay CafĂ©. This event offers students the unique opportunity to showcase their coursework in an open forum by presenting their work in a poster format. Posters will be on display and the creators of them will be present in which to answer questions.

Finally, end the day with “An Evening of Serendipity” from 5-7 pm in the Besse Center Theater. This event celebrates the arts at Bay College. A collection of students from across campus will show off their poetry, essays, artwork, and cinema. Those who attend may participate in a question and answer session with students in regards to their work. Refreshments will follow.
