Artworks of Laura Lobner, displays at Bay West
Bay West will be featuring the art exhibition entitled Expressions
, the works of Laura Lobner. Laura grew up in Norway and attended Norway High School where she displayed promising art abilities. She currently lives and works in Iron Mountain.
The pieces included in the exhibition deal with the personal interests of the artist and many were created as gifts for others. Laura’s preferred media are pyrography, pen and ink, oils and watercolors. Using a variety of media and artistic styles enables her to experiment with various creative outcomes. When creating a piece, she focuses on capturing the shape of each color and shade to bring depth to her work. She expands the initial shading to connect the shapes into more detailed images to capture movement, expression, action, and emotion.
Pyrography, writing with fire, is the art of drawing with a heated tool giving the image a unique appearance. Laura uses this format for images that are enhanced by striking contrasts. Just as a black and white photos often have more visual impact than a color versions, the brown tones of pyrography create a warmer, subtle effect on the work.
Laura creates artwork as a way to relax and unwind from stressful daily life.
She can escape worry and pressure while drawing or painting. Come and enjoy her images to distress as well. The public is invited to the reception to meet the artist on Tuesday, October 11th
in the Lower Commons of Bay College West from 6 PM to 8 PM CST. Refreshments will be served and cellist, Miriam Edwards and violinist, Iris Furlo, will provide music. The Exhibit can be viewed from October 7th
to November 21st
at Bay College West’s Upper Commons.
