Students at Bay College recently competed in a voiceover acting competition at the Besse Theater. Congratulations to the Bay Student Voice Winners, Riley Vogel and Jon Perrault.
The contest consisted of two rounds of competition including a private audition with the judges and an open audition in the Besse Theater. Celebrity Judge, Susie Larson from Radio Results Network, was not only a judge but helped coach and mentor the students with her critiques. “Susie was a great addition to the judges panel, she gave great insight to the students”, says Melissa VanBrocklin, Community Events Coordinator.
Vogel and Perrault will be the voiceover talent in the next Bay College marketing animation video. VanBrocklin explains, “The competition was a fun way to increase student engagement on campus and give the students more opportunities to get involved.”
When asked why you want to be the voice of Bay College, Vogel stated, “Ever since I can remember, I dreamed of being an animated character in a Disney movie. You have to start somewhere and I think being the Voice of Bay would be an excellent way to get my cartoony personality into the public eye.” When asked the same question, Perrault stated, “I love doing voiceovers! One of my goals in life is to become the voice of the Disney Monorail. This is a great opportunity to practice and have some fun with it!”
VanBrocklin explains, “We have a numerous ways for our students to get involved from sports, clubs, drama productions, volunteering opportunities, to attending all of the events we have on campus. We encourage our students to have fun and explore all the different activities and programs offered on campus. Research suggests students who are involved in student organizations and campus activities have a better G.P.A., graduate sooner, and have a better college experience.”
