Maino Signs with Norse Women’s Basketball Program

Marissa Maino, a senior from Ishpeming High School has signed a NJCAA Letter of Intent to play for the inaugural women’s basketball team at Bay College. Maino, the daughter of Rebecca and Geno Maino, signed her Letter of Intent at a ceremony this afternoon at Ishpeming High School.

Maino has had a successful basketball career for the Hematites, earning Mid Pen Conference 2nd Team accolades in 2016 & 2017, as well as All UP 2nd team in 2016.  In 2015 she received Honorable Mention Mid Pen Conference and served as team captain in 2015-2017. Maino was also selected as a Top 20 shooter by the MHSAA following her senior season.   In addition to basketball, Maino also excelled in Track & Field, earning many awards, including All-State, as well as holding the UP record for Division 2 in the shot put.

Maino excels in the classroom, as well.  She carries a 3.8 GPA, is a member of the National Honor society, and has been a member of the All State Academic team for both track and basketball.
Coach Drake said, “Rissa has a great sense for the game.  She can shoot the 3 and also can score with her back to the basket.  She understands angles, which makes her a fine passer.  Rissa also excels in the classroom.  I am excited to have her a part of the Bay College Women’s basketball family.”
