February has been designated as Career and Technical Education Month in Michigan. Career and Technical Education provides Michigan high school students experience in practical, meaningful applications of basic skills such as reading, writing, and mathematics, which helps improve the quality of their education.

Each year Bay de Noc Community College awards over $300,000 in scholarships to students. More than 250 scholarships are available for the fall 2015 semester through the Bay College Foundation.

Bay West will be featuring a retrospective of the work of Sharon O’Kane Schmeltzer who has been a local art instructor and practicing artist in our local area. Schmeltzer obtained her a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Northern Michigan University and taught in Manitowoc, WI; Community Schools, Dickinson County Community Adult Education and Breitung Township Schools.
