204    HIRING ADMINISTRATORS POLICY 

PROCEDURE: 

The primary responsibility for implementation of this policy rests with the President of the college for all administrators who report to him and with the administrator responsible for the work of others not reporting to the President. 

204.1  An analysis is completed to determine the qualities and skills needed for the job.  When the analysis has been completed and authorization to fill the position has been attained, prepare a job description, or in the case of a new position, a PDQ, and contact Human Resources. 

204.2  If a selection committee is used, it should include both females and minority employees if available.  Send a list of the committee members to Human Resources. 

204.3  Applicants are evaluated against a point system for the various areas of responsibility. 

204.4  Those having the highest evaluation are selected for an interview. 

204.5  A list of standard questions, which help determine the capabilities of the candidates, is devised and asked of all applicants interviewed.  Official transcripts are expected to be available prior to hiring. 

204.6  The evaluation of candidates is then completed following the interviews, using the same form as previously. 

204.7  References must be checked prior to hiring. 

204.8  When the final candidate has been selected and approved for hire, return all applicant materials to Human Resources. 

204.9  Based upon the evaluations, the interview, and judgment, a recommendation is made to the president by administrators reporting to him and to the Board by the president for applicants who, if hired, would report to the President. 

204.10    Set up an appointment for the new employee with Human Resources for a new employee orientation.
