BAY de NOC COMMUNITY COLLEGE PERSONNEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURESOriginator: Board of Trustees Revision Date: July, 2003 Subject: Employment 206 HIRING INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY POLICY PROCEDURE: The responsibility for recommending instructional faculty appointments rests with the appropriate dean who will follow these procedures: 206.1 In the case of a new position, the need will be determined consistent with Section 0110 of the master contract, as well as the goals and objectives of the college. In the case of a replacement by reason of resignation or retirement, the notification of the position will be announced. 206.2 Announcement of the vacancy will be made first to the Association’s President. 206.3 Refer the position vacancy to Human Resources to ensure recruitment and selection processes are consistent with Equal Employment Opportunity guidelines. 206.4 Review applications and credentials of applications currently on file and notify potentially qualified applicants of the vacancy. 206.5 All applicants will submit a Bay College application, cover letter, resume and OFFICIAL transcripts. The appropriate administrator will screen all applications. Applicants are evaluated against a point system weighted for the various areas of responsibility. Those applicants scoring the highest points will be notified to arrange an interview. The interview will be conducted by the appropriate administrator or instructional supervisor, and/or by selected committee. 206.6 Notification by the appropriate dean of the recommended applicant will be made to the Executive Vice President for Instructional Services, the President, the successful applicant, and then presented to the Board. 206.7 When the final candidate has been selected and approved for hire, return all applicant materials to Human Resources. 206.8 Human Resources will provide an orientation for the employee regarding pay periods, benefits, and other information of interest to the employee. Appropriate employment forms will be sent to the new faculty member prior to their arrival on campus. |
