BAY de NOC COMMUNITY COLLEGE PERSONNEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES Originator: Board of Trustees Revision Date: Subject: Pay Practices 304 JOB EVALUATION POLICY It shall be the policy of Bay de Noc Community College to adopt a job evaluation plan for all employees outside of a regular bargaining unit. PROCEDURE: 304.1 A written job description is prepared for each job at the college. Job descriptions are evaluated in terms of knowledge and skill required and impact on operations, and working conditions. 304.2 Labor grades or classifications are established by the college and a salary range is assigned to each grade or classification. The salary provides for a spread from the minimum to a maximum rate and permits employees in any grade to be compensated at different rates of pay based on merit, experience, individual productivity, or external labor market factors. 304.3 The job evaluation committee periodically reviews all existing wages and salaries to ensure that present employees are within their job classification rate/range. 304.4 The job evaluation committee administers the job evaluation plan. The responsibility of the committee includes: a. Periodically reviewing existing job descriptions to ensure that they adequately describe the job b. Handling all requests for reevaluation of jobs as well as the evaluation of new jobs c. Making adjustments in labor grades or classifications when justified by the reevaluation process. |
