BAY de NOC COMMUNITY COLLEGE PERSONNEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES Originator: Board of Trustees Revision Date: Subject: Benefits 505 ADMINISTRATIVE EMPLOYEES VACATION POLICY It shall be the policy of the Bay de Noc Community College Board of Trustees to authorize vacation each year for all administrators. Vacation time may accumulate to no more than 240 hours. PROCEDURE: 505.1 The president has the primary responsibility for the implementation of this policy. All administrators have a cooperative responsibility. 505.2 Vacation hours may be accumulated based upon the following schedule: 0 thru 5 years 6.25 hrs. per pay period at start of 6 yrs. 6.75 hrs. per pay period at start of 11 yrs. 7.00 hrs. per pay period at start of 16 yrs. 7.25 hrs. per pay period at start of 21 yrs. 7.75 hrs. per pay period 505.3 Calculations shall begin with the first day of the first year of continuous employment. Employees may not, except in unusual circumstances, use vacation benefits until they have completed the introductory period (6 months) and been granted regular status.505.4 All vacation hours taken shall be reported to the immediate supervisor who, in turn, must report them to the Business Office.505.5 No allowance will be made for sickness or any other compensable type of absence occurring during a scheduled vacation.505.6 If an employee is absent because of illness or injury on one or both days surrounding a designated vacation, the College reserves the right to verify the reason for the absence.505.7 If employment is terminated, an employee shall be allowed to use any remaining earned vacation hours. The calculation of earned vacation hours shall be a prorated amount up to the date of termination plus any allowed carryover from the previous fiscal year.505.8 In emergency circumstances only, the 240 hours maximum accrual may be waived by the immediate supervisor. The authorization must be submitted in writing to the payroll department.505.9 Administrators should submit vacation schedules to their immediate supervisor far enough in advance to ensure adequate staffing during the vacation.505.10 Administrators should report vacations in not less than 4-hour blocks. |
