Originator: Board of Trustees Revision Date: Subject: Benefits 506 HOURLY EMPLOYEES VACATION POLICYIt shall be the policy of the Bay de Noc Community College Board of Trustees to authorize hourly employees to accrue paid annual leave on a bi-weekly basis. 506.1 Hours of annual leave are earned for continued service as follows: 0 thru 5 years 4.00 hrs. per pay period the start of 6 yrs. 4.75 hrs. per pay period the start of 11 yrs. 5.25 hrs. per pay period the start of 16 yrs. 6.00 hrs. per pay period the start of 21 yrs. 6.75 hrs. per pay period 506.2 Employees may not, except in unusual circumstances, use vacation benefits until they have completed the introductory period (6 months) and been granted regular status. 506.3 Annual leave may be accumulated to a total of 240 hours. 506.4 Vacation benefits will be prorated for those employees in positions considered regular status and which are less than full time but at least half-time. 506.5 No allowance will be made for sickness or any other compensable type of absence occurring during a scheduled vacation. 506.6 If an employee is absent because of illness or injury on one or both days surrounding a designated vacation, the College reserves the right to verify the reason for the absence. 506.7 If employment is terminated, an employee shall be allowed to use any remaining earned vacation hours. The calculation of earned vacation hours shall be a prorated amount up to the date of termination plus any allowed carryover from the previous fiscal year. 506.8 In emergency circumstances only, the 240 hours maximum accrual may be waived by the immediate supervisor. The authorization must be submitted in writing to the payroll department. 506.9 Employees should submit vacation schedules to their immediate supervisor far enough in advance to ensure adequate staffing during the vacation. |
