705     LONG-TERM DISABILITY POLICY
 
It shall be the policy of the Bay de Noc Community College Board of Trustees to provide long-term disability leave when an absence from work lasts more than 180 days.
 
PROCEDURE:
 
705.1    Individuals who are not able to return to work within one hundred eighty (180) days of the onset of debilitating circumstances, need to complete the appropriate insurance form for long-term disability and provide certification from a physician of the disability.
 
705.2    In the event of an individual going on long-term disability, Bay College reserves the right to fill the vacant position.  Should the individual be able to return to work, Bay College will attempt to place the employee into any open position for which the individual qualifies, if one exists.
 
705.3    An employee must provide the college with medical assurance that he/she is physically and mentally fit to return to work.
