707     BEREAVEMENT POLICY

It shall be the policy of the Bay de Noc Community College Board of Trustees to authorize leave for a death in the immediate family. In the event of a death of the immediate family (grandparent, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, or the spouse of any of them), or of other related persons living in the household, the employee may have a maximum of three (3) days paid time off to make necessary funeral arrangements and to attend the funeral.  If approved by the supervisor, an additional 2 days of bereavement leave may be granted for deaths out of the area where long-distance travel is involved.  For the death of a spouse, child or parent (5) five days shall be provided.  Bereavement time may be granted because of the death of any other individual, with approval of the employee's supervisor.

Additional sick leave of up to five working days may be granted at the discretion of the supervisor.
