BAY de NOC COMMUNITY COLLEGE PERSONNEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Originator: Board of Trustees Revision Date: Subject: Personal Conduct 807 USE OF COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS POLICY It shall be the policy of Bay de Noc Community College Board of Trustees to provide or contract for the communication services and equipment necessary for the conduct of its business. Such communication services and equipment should not be used for personal purposes except in emergencies or when extenuating circumstances warrant it. PROCEDURE: 807.1 Employees should familiarize themselves with the numerous types of communications services and equipment used by the organization. Most of these services and equipment have usage charges or expenses. Employees should be aware of these charges or expenses and should exercise care in choosing the proper vehicle for each business communication. Employees should consult their supervisor about the proper vehicle for communication. 807.2 Employee personal use of the college’s communication services and equipment is restricted because usage can impede normal flow of ordinary business, incur unnecessary college expense, and reduce productivity. When personal usage of college communications facilities is unavoidable, employees must properly log any user charges and reimburse them to the college. Personal long distance telephone calls should normally either be placed collect or charged to the caller’s home phone. 807.3 Employees who do not have direct access to college telephones should make provisions to have emergency or other necessary calls routed to their supervisor or pick up messages at the switchboard. The college does not, however, accept responsibility for the prompt or accurate relay of personal messages. 807.4 Employees are discouraged from using the college’s address for receiving personal mail and may not use college stationary or postage for personal letters. Personalized stationary and business cards may only be issued by the college. Employees should ensure that no personal correspondence appears to be an official communication of the college. |
