The millage renewal proposition reads as follows:
“Shall the charter tax rate limitation of 1 mill ($1.00 on each $1,000.00 of taxable valuation) previously approved by the electors of Bay de Noc Community College, Michigan be renewed for a period of 20 years, 2015 to 2034, inclusive, to be used only for capital improvements and for paying the principal and interest on outstanding bonded indebtedness of the community college district; if approved, the estimate of the revenue the community college district will collect in the first year of levy, 2015, is approximately $1,000,000.”
This is a renewal and is critical to maintaining and advancing higher education in our community. This will not increase taxes, and currently costs the average taxpayer in Delta County pennies per day on a $100,000 property value.
