THE 0.8924 MILLAGE WOULD COST YOU JUST PENNIES PER DAY TO CREATE AN EFFICIENT, SAFE, AND PRODUCTIVE ENVIRONMENT.

What will the additional millage cost you in taxes?

  • $200,000 house: $7.44 a month
  • $80,000 house: $2.97 a month

An investment in Bay College today is an investment in sustaining our community. Together we can make the future stronger!

Challenges:

Campus infrastructure is in need of critical improvements
  • Heating, cooling, lighting, water, safety and security systems are 20-50+ years old
  • Insufficient state funding has not provided adequate funds to pay for large capital needs
  • Bay has extended the useful life of equipment way beyond expectations

Solution:

Comprehensive, cost-effective improvement plan to ensure an efficient, safe, productive learning environment
  • Substantial savings by completing in one project with today's dollars
    • Costs 20+% less if engineered in one project
    • Emergency repairs cost up to 100% more
    • Construction costs typically double every 10 years
  • Delaying will cost the college, students, and taxpayers more money

Proposal:

0.8924 operating millage for 20 years to address campus operations
  • Millage restoration of 0.1924 lost due to the 1978 Headlee Amendment (cost Bay College$230,000 in lost taxes in 2018-19)
  • Additional 0. 7 mills for critical improvements including boilers, chillers, LED lighting, safety systems and more
  • Efficiency improvements will reduce long term operating costs
