Bay West Offers Nurse Assistant Training

On July 16, 2018 Bay College will be offering nurse assistant training on their West Campus in Iron Mountain. The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) training is designed to provide attendees with the knowledge, skills, and processes that are necessary to become a certified nurse assistant. After successfully completing the training, students will qualify to take the state competency evaluation test for nursing assistants.

Training consists of a mixture of classroom lecture, laboratory training, and clinical training. Classroom and laboratory training will take place at Bay College West Campus in Iron Mountain, and clinical training takes place at a local care facility. Cost of the training is $800, which is eligible for full reimbursement, plus the cost of scrubs and shoes. This program is delivered in 96 hours from July 16 to August 2 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST. Only eight seats are available for this certification program, so students are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. Bay College will be providing the stethoscope and blood pressure cuff required for training. Requirements for program entry include satisfactorily completing a medical examination before entrance to clinics and passing a criminal background check.

Bay College’s robust CNA program is designed to ensure that students will have the knowledge and hands-on experience to make them successful at their job.  “Our training program provides students with the maximum amount of clinical training time possible; over 30% of our training hours are spent working in a local care facility.” says Renée Lundberg, Business Development Manager. “CNA positions offer competitive wages with benefits, and those completing the training may be eligible to receive five credits toward the Bay College nursing program.”
