New Bay College Trustee Appointed

The Bay de Noc Community College Board of Trustees appointed Kenneth H. Groh to fill the vacancy created by William W. Lake.

Mr. Groh was selected from six candidates for the vacancy. Following tradition, the Board reviewed the skill sets each candidate would bring to the Board while attempting to achieve diversity in its membership.

Mr. Groh served as Superintendent of Manistique Area Schools from 1995-2004 and North Central Area Schools from 1988-1995. After retiring from 32 years in Public Education, he was asked to serve as Interim Superintendent of Schools for Big Bay de Noc Schools, Baraga Area Schools, Gladstone Area Schools, and North Central Area Schools.

 Mr. Groh was also the Athletic Director/Community Schools Director at Gladstone Area Schools from 1985-1988, the Community Schools Director from 1979-1985 and the Elementary Principal and Athletic Director from 1973-1979 at North Central Area Schools after teaching at Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Public Schools in Pigeon, MI.

Mr. Groh received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from Northern Michigan University and additional graduate hours in School Administration from Northern Michigan University and Central Michigan University. 

Mr. Groh stated, “I consider this appointment to be an honor. I attended Bay College, as did my wife Bonnie.  Great things are happening at Bay College. It is important for Bay to continue offering outstanding educational opportunities for area residents and all students. I am happy to be part of this effort.”
