Bay College - West Campus will continue with their Leadership Academy after their first cohort successfully completed their nine-month program this May. The Bay West Leadership Academy (BWLA) is geared towards bringing together emerging leaders from the area to develop meaningful skills, grow a professional network, and become more aware of Dickinson County.
The program includes eight, three-hour workshops running monthly from October 2019 through May 2020. The workshop topics include personal mastery, trust, interpersonal communications, external communications, difficult conversations, getting the right things done, technical skills, and servant leadership. Each meeting will also include a presentation on Dickinson County including getting involved, community history, government, healthcare, economic development, human services, and education.
“We learned a lot our first year and have updated the program to make it even better for 2019-2020,” said organizer Gina Wollner, Dean of Bay College West Campus. “This program is about skills development, but it is also about reinforcing the idea that to be a leader in the workplace you need to be a leader in your community.”
A new component this year is the expectation that all members must attend three meetings of a community group that they are interested in. Also included is admission to the Leadership Conference at Bay College West Campus in May 2020. The total cost for this program is $900 and only 20 seats are available. The deadline to apply is July 19 and the 2019/2020 cohort will be announced on August 2, 2019. Interested individuals can apply online by visiting the Bay College West Leadership Academy web page.
