Bay College Community Voices Presents, "Math Mindset: Help Change the Way Your Child Views Homework"

The Bay College West Campus Speaker Series "Community Voices" starts back up on Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM CST in Fornetti Hall.  Admission is free and all ages are welcome. 

This month will feature Britt Slade, presenting "Math Mindset: Help Change the Way Your Child Views Homework.” Slade has a Bachelor and Master of Science Degree in Mathematics, along with a Secondary Education Certificate in Math and Science, from Michigan Technological University (MTU).  While at MTU, she won the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award.  Slade has taught at Bay College since 2005 and has taught classes ranging from Pre-Algebra to Calculus I.  During her time at Bay, she has won the Outstanding Educator Award, TORCH Award, and Open Education Award.  Slade and her husband, Spencer, who is also a Bay College math instructor, frequently go into local elementary and high schools to do math activities and presentations.

This presentation will provide information for parents of children in all grades.  Attendees will learn about how growth mindset is key for learning math, online resources that are available, how parent’s attitudes toward math have a great impact on children’s attitudes toward math, and many more helpful tips to help your children with math.
