Community Voices presents "Math Mindset: Help Change the Way Your Child Views Homework" by Britt Slade! Britt Slade has a Bachelor and Master of Science Degree in Mathematics, along with a Secondary Education Certificate in Math and Science, from Michigan Technological University (MTU). While at MTU, she won the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award. Britt has taught at Bay College since 2005 and has taught classes ranging from Pre-Algebra to Calculus I. During her time at Bay, she has won the Outstanding Educator Award, TORCH Award, and Open Education Award. Britt and her husband, Spencer, who is also a Bay College math instructor, frequently go into local elementary and high schools to do math activities and presentations.

This presentation will provide information for parents of children in all grades. What you can expect to learn:

  • How growth mindset is key for learning math
  • Online resources available
  • How parent's attitudes toward math have a great impact on the children's attitudes towards math
  • Many more helpful tips to help your children with math

This the second Annual Hope2Help Suicide Prevention walk. Join us on a 1 mile walk to bring attention to Suicide Awareness. Registration includes a t-shirt! Please register by August 15th. We will be starting our walk in the Midtown Mall parking lot this year and working or way along the main roads.

“College Night” provides high school juniors, seniors, parents, college students, and interested community members an opportunity to meet and speak with college representatives from both in-state and out-of state institutions. Educational opportunities available in the armed services will also be presented.

Approximately 50 different college/military representatives from Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota will be present for the event. The list includes large and small public colleges and universities, private colleges, and armed services opportunities.

Ford Airport, EAA Chapter 439 and Kubick Aviation present 17th Annual Ford Airport Day! Pancake breakfast is from 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM (CT) and lunch from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM (CT).  

This year’s event will feature World War II Aircraft EAA B-25 Mitchell Bomber “Berlin Express”, N2S-1 Stearman (once flown by former President George H.W. Bush) and AT-6D Texan. There will be an Airport Open House filled with activities and sight for all ages.

The Leif Erikson Fall Festival celebrates the Viking history that the Norway area traces some of its roots to. The many events hosted throughout the small town over the course of Leif Erikson Weekend are rather diverse, ranging from competitive racing, the crowning of Miss Norway, and the Leif Erikson Parade, to antique and art displays, musical performances, and the "Funeral Pyre" boat-burning on the Night of the Viking. The weekend includes fall produce, activities just for children, a mini zoo, horse rides, wagon rides, a corn maze, and more.
