Bay de Noc Community College (Escanaba Campus and Iron Mountain Campus) will be honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 20th from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM with an event entitled “The Impact of Inequality.”

The Escanaba campus event will be held in the Bay Café, and speakers will include Captain Aimee Norton of the Salvation Army who will address “Five Women Who Changed the Salvation Army”;  Dr. June Klees will speak about "American Women's History: A Discipline in Context”; biology faculty Laurie Johnson will speak on  "The Inequality of Climate Change”; and Jill Martin, Director of TRiO will address “Food Insecurity, Health, and Justice.”

At the Iron Mountain campus, professor Dr. Crystal Hendrick will be speaking in Fornetti Hall on issues of pollution and environmental justice.

This year’s event also kicks off the Bay College year-long commemoration of the passage of the 19th Amendment, giving all women the right to vote. We invite community members to wear white to this event in celebration of this historic landmark.

A light lunch will be provided by BACM, TRiO, and the Diversity Committee. This event is free and open to the public.
