Bay College West Campus Donates $500 to Salvation Army

News

Bay College West Campus recently held a Kindness Campaign to promote random acts of kindness in the community and donated $500.00 to the local Salvation Army of Dickinson County, Bread of Life Assistance Center.

Bay College West Campus asked community members on Facebook to perform and share an act of kindness. The goal was to encourage gratitude within the community through simple acts such as buying a coffee for a stranger, helping a neighbor rake, or offering someone a ride. Participants were encouraged to share a brief story or photo of their act in the comments. For each share and comment in the following week, Bay College West Campus paid it forward by donating $5.00 to the local Salvation Army.

Katie Roell, owner of Northern Michigan Dance Academy, shared, “I challenged the Grande NMDA dancers to come up with a way to spread kindness. Their ideas and hearts never cease to amaze me. They are planning to dance outside one of the local nursing homes to spread smiles while many do not have visitors right now.”

The Salvation Army is always accepting donations, especially during the holiday season. If you are interested in helping out they are currently holding several events, such as the Red Kettle Campaign and TV6 Canathon. More information can be found on their Facebook page or by calling 906-779-5717.
