Your Health Lecture Series "Youth Suicide: Keeping Kids Safe” Bay College and MSU

The regular “Your Health Lecture Series” sponsored by Bay College and Michigan State University College of Human Medicine continues Tuesday, October 12 at 7:00 PM ET in room 125 of the Math Science building on the Bay College campus in Escanaba.  This month’s conversation features Dr. Zakia Alavi from the MSU College of Human Medicine addressing “Youth Suicide: Keeping Kids Safe.”  The presentation is free and open to the public.  This lecture is in-person only, face masks are required on campus.  To register visit the MSU registration page at https://msu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0DJArB6YXqeHmMm  

Dr. Alavi will discuss assessing suicidal ideation in youth, the basics of safety planning for suicidal youth, and the do’s and don’ts of providing telehealth behavioral services for youth.   Dr. Alavi is the Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the MSU College of Human Medicine, and Chief Medical Officer, Michigan Medicaid Behavior Health Plans Region 1, NorthCare Health Network & Region 5, Mid Sate Health Network.
