Artist Statement
I am a Marquette based artist currently working with textile fibers in an artistic format that allows me to explore the relationship between movement and constraint. I create a union of string and shape, cultivating a vibrant and unique visual experience. thread, is highly influenced by my love of geometric pattern, Art Deco, Korean, and Japanese motifs. I view the thread work as being in a state of flux, but within the confines of space and law, similar to how I view the world. I have been developing my artistic fiber process for the past several years. Initially, I began as a performance artist and painter, but am now combining my experience of more than thirty years as an artist and curator to create thread.
