Nurse Aide Training Offered in 2022

Bay College is offering a 96-hour Nurse Aide training beginning Monday, January 10, 2022.  The Nurse Assistant Training Program provides classroom instruction and hands-on clinical training to prepare students to qualify for the State of Michigan Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) examination.

Bay College’s Nurse Aide training consists of classroom lecture/lab and hands-on clinical training at a local long-term care facility. Classroom and laboratory training will take place at Bay College in Escanaba. Cost of the 3-week training program is $825, plus the cost of books and scrubs. All training costs may be covered for those qualifying for Michigan Works! Service through the MiLEAP and MiREACH grants.

The latest labor market data released by indeed shows the average salary for a nursing assistant in Michigan is $16.17 per hour with an additional $5,020 in overtime pay per year. According to Renée Lundberg, Manager of Training and Workforce Development, “Local long-term care facilities in our area have an immediate need for nurse aides, and with potential funding through Michigan Works!, now is a great time to register for training”.

Prospective nurse aide students should contact their local Michigan Works! office to inquire about funding prior to registering for the training program.
