Bay College Alumni Now Faculty

Bay College is excited to share that four, new full-time faculty have joined their team, and all four of these new instructors are proud Alumni of Bay College in their respected areas of study.

“It is encouraging to see graduates of Bay College coming back to teach.  Especially as all these instructors were successful at Bay, then went on to a four-year institution, then succeed in their fields before coming back to teach.  Their previous experience at Bay College will provide a valuable resource for their students.” shares Mark Highum, Dean of Business and Technology.

John Breitzman has been hired as an Instructor and Program Lead for the Computer Information Systems program. He received his Associates of Applied Science degree from Bay College in Computer Network and Systems Security. After transferring to Lake Superior State University, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Networking. The Computer Information Systems Programming and User Support Program at Bay College will equip students to select, install, use, and help others to use all different type of computer systems, software’s, and technologies. Our graduates have the opportunity to earn industry certifications as part of their college program.

Nick Dupont has been hired as an Instructor and Program Lead for the Welding Program. He is a graduate from the Welding Program at Bay College himself and attended Ferris State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Welding Engineering Technology. Bay College’s Welding Program provides students with specialized classroom and shop experiences with all types of metal welding, brazing, and frame cutting. Students have the opportunity to gain 2-5 American Welding Society (AWS) certifications.

Nick Fox has been hired as an Instructor and Program lead for the Mechatronics Program. Nick gradated from Bay College, where he earned his Associate’s degree in Automation Technology. He then transferred to Northern Michigan University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering. The Mechatronics program at Bay College provides students with the basic principles and skills to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechatronic systems. Eligible students can also complete co-op’s or internships in the area of Mechatronics and Robotics Systems to gain real-world experience that can benefit them in future careers.

Dr. Chris Gravatt has been hired as the full-time Chemistry Instructor. He earned two Associate degrees from Bay College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Lake Superior State University, and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Chemistry program at Bay College provides a solid foundation for further study in a more specialized area. Bay College offers students interested in Chemistry a degree option in Associate in Science as well as a variety of different Chemistry courses. Dr. Amy Reddinger, VP of Arts and Sciences, Diversity, Equity, & Belonging stated, “It was very exciting for the Math and Science faculty at Bay to watch Chris leave Bay, succeed at LSSU, and then excel through his doctoral program and beyond. It was even more thrilling to get to hire him as a faculty member. Dr. Gravatt is an excellent addition to Bay faculty and a real Bay College success story.”
