Ann Valiquette, Outstanding Employee at Bay College

Bay College honors Ann Valiquette, former Director of the Bay College Business Office, as one of its recipients of the Outstanding Employee Award.  Valiquette was honored and accepted the award at the 2022 Bay College Awards Celebration on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

Valiquette began working at Bay College in 2011 and retired March 31, 2022. As Director of the Business Office, Valiquette was charged with accounting operations of the College and for coordinating the College’s annual financial and grant compliance audits.

Valiquette’s nominator states, “She’s provided continuous, positive, and steadfast leadership to the Business Office.  Ann always stayed current with her job knowledge and skills with ethics and integrity at the forefront.  She was a positive influence and created a safe and cooperative working environment for students, colleagues, and community members.  Ann was always willing to work collaboratively with other colleges and institutions to provide guidance and expertise when others had questions.  I can’t put into words all the reasons Ann is deserving of this honor but appreciate and respect Ann for all her contributions to Bay.  She will be greatly missed and we wish her all the best in retirement.”

Valiquette dedicated innumerable hours over the last ten years, monitoring the business functions of the College.  She provided the highest level of detailed reporting to ensure accuracy during the annual financial audit, taking pride to ensure the accounts “ticked and tied” with a goal of zero audit findings.

Vice President of Finance & Operations, Eileen Sparpana, said of Valiquette, “Ann’s accounting expertise, ethical behavior and servant leadership along with her calm demeanor, make her an exceptional mentor and outstanding employee.”

Any Bay College employee, Board member, student, alumni, or community member may nominate a full-time or regular part-time exempt or non-exempt employee for the Bay College Outstanding Employee Award.  These individuals must have completed three years of employment at Bay College.  Nominees are judged on their job knowledge, respect and enthusiasm toward colleagues, students, and community members, creating a positive influence within the work environment, and collaboratively working with colleagues and staff.
