Bay College Honors Outstanding Educator

Josh Blumensaadt

Bay College honors Josh Blumensaadt, part-time Computer Network Systems and Security (CNSS) Instructor, as one of its recipients of the Outstanding Educator Award sponsored by the Don Johnson Agency/MEEMIC Insurance.  To receive consideration for the award, faculty were nominated by a colleague, student, or someone from the community.  The primary focus of this award is to acknowledge faculty’s commitment to education and excellence in service to others.

Josh Blumensaadt is a proud Bay College Alumni and began his career as a Student Employee in 2007 and transitioned to a Full-Time Employee in 2011 as a Technical Support Specialist.  From 2012 to 2018, Blumensaadt held the position as the Coordinator of Campus User Technology.  He currently serves as a part-time Computer Network Systems and Security (CNSS) Instructor at Bay College and a CTE Instructor with the Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District.

Blumensaadt earned an Associate in Arts-Secondary Education (Math) and an Associate in Applied Science-Computer Systems Technology degree from Bay College.  In addition, Blumensaadt was named as the Outstanding Staff for Bay College in 2017 and earned the Escanaba Torch (Team player; Outstanding performance; Responsive to others; Conscientious to mission of Bay College; Helpful to all) Award in 2013 and the Bay West Torch Award in 2011.  Blumensaadt has received multiple certifications during his time at Bay College including: MTA Networking Fundamentals, MTA Windows Serve Administration Fundamentals, MTA Security Fundamentals, and MTA Windows Operating System Fundamentals.

Dean of Business and Technology, Mark Highum, shared “Josh is a great Teacher, and a wonderful asset to our Computer Network Systems and Security (CNSS) program.  He teaches at the Delta Schoolcraft ISD, as well as directly for Bay College.  He is also an invaluable asset on the CNSS Advisory Committee, and has worked on revising our Hardware Maintenance course.  Bay College is fortunate to have Josh Blumensaadt as one of our Faculty.”

Lastly, Blumensaadt was nominated by a student, who shared “Josh ties in personal experiences and current events to show how the subject matter impacts our daily lives.  Josh’s classes are designed so that you can get out of them whatever you put into them.  Josh frequently helps me dive deeper and help me learn more then what is in the book.”

Any Bay College employee, Board member, student, alumni, or community member may nominate a full-time or regular part-time exempt or non-exempt employee for the Bay College Outstanding Employee Award.  These individuals must have completed three years of employment at Bay College.  Nominees are judged on their job knowledge, respect and enthusiasm toward colleagues, students, and community members, creating a positive influence within the work environment, and collaboratively working with colleagues and staff.
