Bay College Offers CDA Training

News

The Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children and Bay College are partnering to bring high-quality CDA training to meet the needs of early care and education providers in the Upper Peninsula.  CDA Training will be facilitated by Bay Early Childhood Education faculty.

Participants will meet the 120 hours of fieldwork required by the Council for Professional Recognition as they earn 9 college credits across 3 courses: CHLD 101 Foundations in Early Childhood Care and Education,  CHLD 110 Health, Safety & Nutrition, and CHLD 120 Child Guidance.  Portfolio development ties it all together in an approximate 8-month process.  Credits earned also apply toward an Early Childhood Associate (AAS) Degree.

For eligible participants, T.E.A.C.H. scholarships cover most, or all of the cost of tuition, books and the CDA credentialing fee.  All Bay ECE courses are accessible either online-only or virtually via weekly Zoom seminars.  In addition, courses are always taught in the evenings to accommodate those who work full-time in the field.

High school dual-enrolled or Early College students are also eligible to pursue the CDA and if working at least 20 hours/week, are eligible to apply for a T.E.A.C.H. scholarship.
