Bay College Honors 2023 Outstanding Full Time Educators

Bay College honors Dr. Caitlin Capodilupo, Nursing instructor, Jennifer Farnsworth, Nursing instructor, and Molly Campbell, Political Science Instructor as the recipients of the 2023 Outstanding Educator Awards sponsored by the Don Johnson Agency/MEEMIC Insurance.  To receive consideration for the award, faculty were nominated by a colleague, student, or someone from the community.  The primary focus of this award is to acknowledge faculty’s commitment to education and excellence in service to others.

Dr. Caitlin Capodilupo, Nursing Instructor

Dr. Caitlin Capodilupo teaches in the specialty area of Medical-Surgical Nursing.  She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Mercy College and her Master of Science in Nursing from Northern Michigan University, as well as her Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.  One of Caitlin’s students shared, “She promotes questions in her classroom and during nursing clinical rotations.  She never judges you anytime you ask a question.  She has so much personal experience and love for what she is teaching and you can see it when tells her stories to give examples about things that we are learning in class.”

Jennifer Farnsworth, Nursing Instructor

Jennifer Farnsworth has been employed with Bay College since 2005 and focuses her instructing areas in nursing success, family nursing, and bridging from an LPN to RN.  Jennifer holds a Master of Science in Nursing degree with a minor in Advance Practice Nursing focusing on women, children, and neonates from Wayne State University.  In addition, she is one of the first nationally board-certified nurse practitioners in the Upper Peninsula.  A student shared, “Jennifer is able to teach her students using many different classroom strategies.  She provides detailed lecture time, assignments, and innovating SIM opportunities.  She also brings her life experience from working on multiple levels of nursing and uses them to support, teach, and encourage her students”.

Molly Campbell, Political Science Instructor

Our final award recipient Molly Campbell, who received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government from Campbell University and a Masters of Arts degree in Political Science with concentrations in Public Administration and Environmental Politics from Colorado State University.  She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies from Western Kentucky University.  Molly is a passionate educator and advocate for all of her students, and her nomination highlights all of the ways she contributes to student success.  A student shared, “Mrs. Campbell taught two classes that I took online while in high school.  She made Blackboard easy to navigate, helped through phone calls and zoom when I needed help.  I believe she is an amazing lecturer, professor, individual, and human being.”

Any Bay College employee, Board member, student, alumni, or community member may nominate a full-time or regular part-time exempt or non-exempt employee for the Bay College Outstanding Employee Award.  These individuals must have completed three years of employment at Bay College.  Nominees are judged on their job knowledge, respect and enthusiasm toward colleagues, students, and community members, creating a positive influence within the work environment, and collaboratively working with colleagues and staff.
