Bay College is providing free tuition to citizens of Delta and Dickinson counties aged 60 and over. This initiative aims to support lifelong learning and community engagement by offering personal enrichment opportunities at little to no cost. Bay College is committed to making education accessible for all ages.
While participating in enriching courses without the financial burden of tuition, eligible community members will only need to cover the cost of fees, books, and supplies. This program is designed to make education more accessible and to encourage seniors to explore new interests and stay intellectually active.
Community members can choose to enroll in the class one of two ways:
- Earning college credit and receiving a grade for the class
- Auditing the course for personal enrichment without receiving a grade or college credit
“It has been great to welcome people from the community to our campus to continue their lifelong learning,” states Jason Sullivan, Executive Director of the Iron Mountain campus. “In Fall of 2022, we had a full Drawing I class, which was an even split of degree-seeking students and community members that were auditing the course. The stories and feedback received from the class was truly encouraging. This holds true for community members enrolled in a variety of our classes—from Intro to Psychology, to Cultural Diversity, and to the Fine Arts. I hope to continue to see community members take advantage of this initiative.”
