The Bay College Alumni Association is proud to announce Rapid River native Paul Fix as Bay College’s 2012 Distinguished Alumni of the Year. Paul was acknowledged at Bay College’s Awards Dinner held in April 2012.

Paul graduated from Rapid River High School in 1977. After high school, he attended Bay College where he received his Associates degree in Business Administration. While attending Bay, Paul worked in the Learning Resource Center (LRC) as an audio visual technician and also worked nights at United Parcel Service. It was during his time at Bay that the college partnered with Lake Superior State University to develop a 3 + 1 program, which allowed students to complete their bachelor’s degree mostly in Escanaba with the exception of the last year being completed in Sault Ste Marie. Paul took this path and graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree from Lake Superior State University.

Since graduating from LSSU, Paul has worked in the insurance industry, working for two of the larger regional insurance carriers in Michigan. For the last fifteen years, he has been part owner of Northern Insurance Agency in Escanaba and Gladstone. Paul and his wife Jodi (Delvaux), who he met while attending Bay College, reside in Escanaba. They have three children, Zach, Chelsey and David.

Paul is a member of the Escanaba “Noon” Kiwanis where he has served as president of the club and the chair of the Upper Peninsula Special Olympics Basketball tournament. Paul also served as a commissioner on the Escanaba Housing Commission.
