Andie Arsenault

Though she is a Bay College freshman who just started college classes last fall, Andie Arsenault has already made a name for herself at Bay. Right now, she is juggling business administration courses, a spot on the Bay College Norse women’s basketball team, and a job at Bay’s student services desk.

Andie graduated from North Central Junior/Senior High School in Powers in 2021. That fall, she began studying at Bay.

“It was close to home, and I’m playing basketball here,” she said.

Andie said her sister also has a history of playing basketball with the Bay College Norse. They were both inspired to start playing basketball because of their father’s connection to the sport.

“My dad was a high school girls basketball coach, so we grew up going to all his practices,” she said.

Right now, Andie is working through her second semester at Bay. She said that her classes have been going well so far, and she has not run into any significant problems.

According to Andie, her interest in business administration was inspired by her current job.

“I work at a credit union, and I really like that atmosphere, so I decided to go into something that could help me grow in that area,” she said.

Previously, Andie was able to take advantage of Bay’s support services. She did so because she had concerns about her technological skills.

“I had a tutor because I didn’t know if I‘d be good at working with computers,” she said.

However, her tutor helped her get the hang of using computers for her classes.

In September 2021, Andie started training with the Norse. Since then, she has played several games with Bay’s women’s basketball team. As of mid-February 2022, she was looking forward to their first playoff game of the year.

“It’s fun – we get to go to lots of different places,” she said of her experiences with the team.

Though she still works at the credit union during the summer and at other points throughout the year, Andie has also found employment at Bay. She currently works as a student services desk representative at the college.

“One of the girls on our team does the work study program, and I wanted to as well,” she said of her decision to work at Bay.

As of the winter 2022 semester, Andie expects to stay at Bay College for a few more years as she is set to start working towards her bachelor’s degree in business administration.

“I plan on doing the LSSU program, so I’ll be here for another three to four years,” she said.

While she is not completely sure what she wants to do after graduation, she has looked into the human resources field and similar opportunities.

“I’ll just see where life takes me,” Andie said.
