Austin Walechka - 2020 Outstanding Graduate for the Technology Division at Bay College.

Each year, Bay College selects an Outstanding Graduate from each of the six divisions at the college. The graduate is selected by their instructors for their academic excellence, leadership and community service.

Austin Walechka was selected as the 2020 Outstanding Graduate for the Technology Division, with the award being sponsored by Verso Corporation, the Bay College Faculty Association, and the Bay College Foundation.

A graduate of Great Lakes Adventist Academy, Austin selected Bay College because it was close to home and affordable. Austin has enjoyed his experience at Bay and stated “Bay’s teachers and supplemental instructors have helped me understand and improve my skills in all of my classes. Even though the country has been going through a difficult time due to the Coronavirus, the staff and faculty at Bay College have made sure that I have everything I need to succeed, from financial aid to adapting my classes to fit my needs.”

In May, Austin received a Certificate in Welding from Bay College and plans to continue working in the welding field. In his free time, Austin enjoys spending time outdoors, especially riding dirt bikes and snowmobiles.
