Program Details
Computed Tomography Technologists are highly skilled professionals trained to operate CT equipment, which produces cross-sectional images of patients’ bones, organs and tissue that are used to diagnose medical conditions in medical facilities and outpatient centers under the direct supervision of a health care provider. The CT program is designed not only to foster the skills and knowledge necessary for competent practice, but also places emphasis on professional attitudes, values and behaviors that encourage the professional growth of the individual student. Clinical learning experiences are provided by affiliating hospitals, clinics and other outpatient facilities. Didactic learning experiences occur in supportive college course work delivered through an online environment. Both are equally important to the development of the competent CT Technologist.

The Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist Program at Bay College prepares professionals to operate advanced CT imaging equipment, producing detailed cross-sectional images used in medical diagnoses. The program combines online didactic instruction through the EPiC Consortium's shared learning platform hosted by MWTEC-MCO with hands-on clinical training at partnering hospitals and healthcare facilities. Students attend asynchronous classes in conjunction with their clinical education. Aligned with national standards set by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), the program ensures graduates are ready to practice as entry-level technologists. Upon completion, students are eligible to take the ARRT-CT certification exam, earning the RT(R)(CT) credential to advance their careers.
Bay College collaborates with the MCCA EPiC Consortium, a statewide partnership of community colleges, to provide accessible and cost-effective training while maintaining high standards of education. Clinical labs hosted onsite at healthcare facilities reduce program costs, making the program feasible for students across Michigan. The curriculum emphasizes professional growth, focusing on developing attitudes, values, and behaviors essential for success in dynamic healthcare environments.
