Erica Mead

Erica Mead has been employed with Bay College since 2011. Erica serves as a co-advisor for all TRIO students, as well as the supervisor for TRIO SSS peer mentors. In addition to her role as the TRIO SSS co-advisor, Erica is also an Arts and Letters adjunct instructor. She holds a Secondary Education BA from Michigan State University, majoring in English, minoring in Political Science (Summa Cum Laude); and an MA from Northern Michigan University, double-majoring in English Pedagogy and Writing and teaching with a full assistantship in the English department. She also has a state of Michigan Secondary Education Certificate and prior to graduate school was employed in the Lansing School District as a middle school Language Arts teacher. Erica is a certified practitioner for both the Strong Interest Inventory and Meyers Briggs Assessment; a certified Life Design Catalyst facilitator (UNC-Greensboro); a certified Teacher Consultant with the National Writing Project; a certified online instructor in Quality Matters; a certified yoga instructor; and a contracted grant writer. Erica was also the Educational Opportunity Association’s Emerging Leader for Michigan in 2018 - 2019 and a Bay College Torch Award Winner in 2013. Erica has a passion for and commitment to students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education. She is dedicated to providing accessibility to avenues of change and instilling self-worth in all students.
