Joyce King

Joyce King is a Computer Information Systems Instructor at Bay de Noc Community College in Escanaba. King has held this position since 1988. During her tenure, King developed most of the current CIS curriculum including the CIS: Software/Network Support degree, the CIS: Programming & User Support degree, and the Computer Applications Certificate. She previously served as program leader for the CIS department and is currently serving as program leader for the Office Information Systems department. She was named Distinguished Faculty in 2002 and Outstanding Educator in 2011 and 2019. King began her education at Bay College as part of the first cohort of students admitted into the Data Processing degree program. She graduated from Bay with an Associate in Arts degree and transferred to Northern Michigan University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Education, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She was named the Business Education Scholar and the Outstanding Graduate from the Walker L Cisler School of Business at NMU. She also received the NBEA Award of Merit. King went on to earn a Master of Science in Career and Technical Education from Ferris State University, graduating with Highest Distinction. She holds Microsoft Office Master Certification and IC3 Digital Literacy Certification. King strives to stay current by attending professional conferences, trainings, and workshops.
