Mark Highum is the Dean of Business and Technology. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Career and Technical Education (Highest Distinction) from Ferris State University. Prior to this position, Mark served as a faculty member at Bay College for over 25 years. He also served as the Division Chair for Technology faculty for several years. Mark has several certifications in the Mechatronics and Computer fields. He has the following Mechatronics Certifications from PMMI: Industrial Electricity 1 and 2, Fluid Power 1, Motors and Motor Controls, PLCs. He also holds Siemens certification as Mechatronics Systems Associate and Mechatronics Systems Assistant. In the computer field he is CompTIA certified in A+, Network+, Security+, and Linux+, and is a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator in Windows Server. He also holds the Senior Certified Electronics Technician certification from the Electronics Technicians Association. Prior to teaching at Bay College, Highum retired from the US Navy, where he served as an Electronics Technician Chief Petty Officer (Submarines) in the Navy’s Nuclear Power Program. Mark received the Bay College Outstanding Educator Award 2016, 2009. He was also selected as Outstanding Occupational Educator by the MODAC (Michigan Occupational Deans Advisory Committee) in 2004.
