Mark J Houston Is a fill-in Custodian at Bay College in Escanaba, hired in February 2023. Houston works full-time for the GSA Federal Acquisition Services as a Contract Specialist. Originally from Chicago, where he graduated High School in 1983 and joined the United States Marine Corps. He served during Desert Shield/ desert storm in 1991. Houston left the Marine Corps in 1998 and attended Lake Superior State University (LSSU), graduating from LSSU in 2003 with a bachelor's in social studies and secondary education with a minor in organizational communications. He joined the Army National Guard (ARNG) in January 2000, and deployed to Iraq (2003) and Afghanistan (2009-2010). He worked full-time as a program analyst for the ARNG from 2006 to 2013. He has also worked full-time for USDA as a financial technician and for the Defense Logistics Agency as a Purchasing Agent. He attended American Military University and received a bachelor's degree in Government Contracting and acquisitions (Cum Laude) in 2018, and completed a Masters degree in administration of acquisitions from Central Michigan University in 2022. He is a disabled veteran of Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom.
