Mission Statement

The TRIO Student Support Services program at Bay College provides an accessible, approachable, and student-centered environment that enhances the retention, graduation, and transfer rates of first generation, low income, and disabled students. Continuous academic, personal, and cultural development is at the forefront of our many services, including academic and career coaching, financial guidance, and peer and professional mentoring. Our passionate and committed staff strives to ensure that every student recognizes his or her unique potential, regardless of one’s socioeconomic background. We support and guide students from their point of entry through graduation and/or transfer to a university and beyond, building their confidence and self-worth every step of the way.

The TRIO Student Support Services Program is funded through a five-year grant authorized by the U.S. Department of Education. In 2018-19, the federal amount of $321,779 was received or 89.3% of the budget and $34,400 or 10.7% was funded by Bay College.

Tutoring

Tutoring is a free service to enrolled Bay College students and is usually provided by trained peers who successfully completed the course work and/or were recommended by an instructor.

A student needs to complete a request for tutoring form available at the Student Success Center located in the HUB, or the Student Success Center (SSC) at Bay West.
