Upper Peninsula manufacturers are invited to explore the future of industry at the Making Michigan Innovation Expo, hosted by the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC), Automation Alley, and Bay College on April 22, 2025. This dynamic event is part of MMTC’s statewide effort to accelerate technology adoption and digital transformation in the manufacturing sector, especially among small and mid-sized companies.
Attendees will gain hands-on insights into artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, machine learning, and the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies, while connecting with leading experts and regional manufacturing leaders.
“We’re excited to bring the Making Michigan Innovation Expo to Escanaba,” said Ingrid Tighe, President of MMTC. “This is a critical opportunity for U.P. manufacturers to learn, network, and build the digital strategies they need to stay competitive in today’s economy. Artificial intelligence is transforming how we design, produce, and deliver. This event brings it all together, including the guidance manufacturers need to implement these technologies effectively and confidently.”
Cindy Gallagher, Vice President of Workforce Innovation & Strategic Partnerships at Bay College, added, “Collaborating with MMTC aligns with Bay College’s strategic plan to build industry-responsive partnerships and adopt future-ready technology. We are thrilled to be hosting the Innovation Roadshow on the Escanaba Campus and look forward to providing this opportunity to our community.”
The event will feature a keynote presentation by Andrew Halonen, President of Amatrium, on the implementation of machine learning and an introduction to generative artificial intelligence.
A featured panel discussion, “Cyber Risk Considerations for Manufacturers,” will include insights from Steve Mattson, President & CEO of GLSV, Curt Pennala, CEO & Principal of Karhu Cyber, Bob Scipione, Manufacturing Services Manager of Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center, and Karl Linderoth, Bay College Computer Networking Systems and Security Instructor.
The event is free to attend, and lunch will be provided. All attendees will also be entered into a drawing for a free 3D printer. Manufacturers of all sizes are encouraged to register and take advantage of this opportunity to stay ahead in an evolving industry. Learn more and register today at www.the-center.org.
