Bay College is proud to unveil a new cohort-based initiative to ease the transition into college for first-time Dual Enrollment (DE) and Early College (EC) students.

Launching Fall 2025, the program features specially designed online course sections that provide extra academic and personal support to high school students taking their first college classes. Each course will be taught by experienced instructors working with high school learners and passionate about student development.

"You spoke, we listened," said Jessica LaMarch, Director of Dual Enrollment and Early College at Bay College. "We heard from educators and families that first-time DE and EC students need more support and structure—and we're responding with a program that's built just for them."

Highlights of the DE/EC Cohort Program:

  • Dedicated online sections of high-demand courses for new DE/EC students.
  • Built-in First Year Experience (FYE) content to support academic and personal success.
  • Lower-cost learning through Open Educational Resources (OER), where available.
  • A community of practice among instructors to ensure consistency and care across courses.

Courses offered through the new cohort model include:

  • ENGL 101 Rhetoric & Composition
  • COMM 103 Interpersonal Communication
  • SOCY 151 Sociology
  • PSYC 201 Introduction to Psychology
  • FYE 101 College Success Strategies

Placement in these sections is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
